In addition to a variety of advantages, it also allows you a 24 hour operation of trading with\u00a0financial products. Well, the installation process of IBController is easy if you know what you are doing. In this article we would like to provide you a quick start\u00a0guide to make this process easier.<\/p>\n<h2>Installation Trader Workstation (TWS)<\/h2>\n<p>The broker software TWS is available in two versions. A <em>latest version<\/em> that checks every day for updates and an <em>offline version<\/em> that does not make automatic\u00a0updates. <strong>IBController does only work with the offline version!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.interactivebrokers.com\/en\/index.php?f=15875\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">You can download the offline version of TWS here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This article\u00a0refers to the latest version of <strong>IBController in version 3.2.0 from\u00a0June 3 and only works with a TWS in English language<\/strong>. Thus you have to switch the language of the TWS to\u00a0English before installation\u00a0and configuration\u00a0of\u00a0IBController.<\/p>\n<p>Now download\u00a0the offline version of the TWS on your computer and then run the TWS broker software to set the language setting into English and do a first\u00a0test if everything is fine. If you have successfully connected to your broker (Interactive Brokers or Captrader), close the TWS.<\/p>\n<h2>Installation text editor<\/h2>\n<div class=\"\">To configure the IBController, we need a text editor.<br \/>\nWe recommend that you use one of the following programs to customize the IBController\u00a0configuration\u00a0files:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Atom\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/atom.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/atom.io<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Notepad++\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/notepad-plus-plus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/notepad-plus-plus.org<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Filename extension Windows<\/h2>\n<div class=\"\">Most\u00a0Microsoft Windows installations simply <strong>hide file extensions in Windows Explorer<\/strong>. This sometimes leads to pretty bad\u00a0usability\u00a0because\u00a0files with the same names appear. We recommend that you disable this\u00a0setting in your Windows Explorer, so that you are able to see all file extensions.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">The following link shows you how to enable this feature in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10:<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/show-file-extensions-in-windows\">http:\/\/www.thewindowsclub.com\/show-file-extensions-in-windows<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Installation\u00a0IBController<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ib-controller\/ib-controller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IBController<\/a>\u00a0is open source and is provided free of charge on GitHub.
